Workforce Development

Workforce development helps level the playing field between the trained and unskilled labor force and management opportunities. Workforce development helps educate and train participants in specific fields ensuring that low income, inexperienced workers have access to jobs that move them up the economic spectrum.

Approach
CEED's goal is to work with development partners to offer customized career assessment, education and job-specific training to clients enrolled in our "Skills to Wealth" program, based on their exisitng experience, language level and cultural backgrounds that would equip them with the skills needed to start their own small businesses as well as enter into the employment market fully prepared.

CEED believes that:

  1. Workforce development is a linchpin for economic growth - employers increase their efficiency and production when their workers have the requisite education and skills to thrive in their jobs.
  2. Workforce development helps level the playing field between trained and untrained - it helps educate participants in specific fields ensuring that low-income, inexperienced workers have access to jobs that move them up the economic spectrum.
  3. Workforce development is especially important now because businesses are facing critical skills gap - the skills of the workforce we currently have in many communities does not match the skills of the workforce necessary to fill current and future job demands. Some traditionally high-paying jobs, such as those in manufacturing, are being lost to technological innovation and global competition; as well as demographic factors, Corporations moving out of State are affecting our local economic competitiveness, and have created a void that must be filled. We must ensure that residents of our communities have the education and skills they need to compete for the jobs of today and the employment opportunities of tomorrow.
